OMNICOMMANDER builds and runs your digital front door. Ostrich runs your outbound member channel. Their product line centres on the website and the properties around it. Ours centres on the weekly email that reaches members where they already are. These are complementary jobs far more often than they are competing ones, and plenty of credit unions would sensibly buy both.
What OMNICOMMANDER does
OMNICOMMANDER describes itself as a digital marketing agency for financial institutions. Per their own site, the product line covers website development with an emphasis on ADA accessibility and mobile optimisation, plus a set of tools that live around the site: live chat, digital forms, appointment scheduling, a branch and ATM locator, and in-lobby digital signage.
Read that list again and the shape becomes clear. It is a digital storefront practice. Website, the things a visitor does on the website, and the screens inside your branch.
That is real work, most credit unions need it, and a bad website is a genuine liability. They also rank on page one for "credit union marketing agency", which is more than most vendors in this category manage.
Who OMNICOMMANDER is genuinely right for
- Your website is dated, hard to use on a phone, or a compliance concern.
- You want accessibility handled properly rather than bolted on.
- You want chat, forms, scheduling, and locator tools from one vendor instead of four.
- Branch signage matters to you and you would rather not manage it separately.
If your honest answer to "what is stopping us" is that the website is embarrassing, that is a website project. Buy the website project.
What a digital storefront cannot do on its own
A website is where members arrive. It does not create the reason they arrive.
This is the gap we care about. You can have an excellent site, well designed and fully accessible, and still have members who hear from you twice a year. The site is a destination. Destinations do not generate their own traffic.
A great front door is worth having. Something still has to knock on it.
Where Ostrich fits
We run the outbound side: a weekly member email under your brand, new-member and indirect-member onboarding, a branded financial wellness site, organic social, and board-ready reporting. No core integration, about two hours a month from your team, live in 48 hours to a week.
| Digital storefront agency | Ostrich | |
|---|---|---|
| Main job | The place members arrive | The reason they arrive |
| Website build and maintenance | Yes | No |
| Accessibility and compliance on the site | Yes | No |
| Chat, forms, scheduling, locator | Yes | No |
| Branch signage | Yes | No |
| Weekly outbound member email | No | Yes |
| Indirect-member onboarding sequences | No | Yes |
| Writes the ongoing content | Varies by engagement | Yes |
| Your time each month | Project-dependent | ~2 hours |
We are not going to claim we build better websites, because we do not build websites at all.
Should you use both?
Often, yes. A credit union with a dated site and no consistent member communication has two different problems, and buying one solution for both usually means one of them stays unsolved.
If you can only do one this year, the honest tiebreaker is which one is actually costing you. A site that works but looks tired costs you less than a membership that never hears from you. A site that fails accessibility or breaks on a phone costs you more. Our buyer guide walks through that diagnosis.
Questions credit unions ask us
Is OMNICOMMANDER a competitor to Ostrich?
Only at the edges. Their product line centres on websites and the tools around them, such as chat, forms, scheduling, locators, and branch signage. Ours centres on outbound member communication. Both describe themselves as marketing, but the actual work is different, and many credit unions would reasonably use both.
Does Ostrich build websites?
No. We build and run a branded financial wellness site for your members as part of the program, but we do not build or maintain your main credit union website. If that is what you need, a website agency is the right call.
We have a good website already but members never hear from us. What do we need?
An outbound channel, not another website project. That is the specific gap Ostrich exists to fill.
Our website is the problem. Can Ostrich help?
Not with the website itself. We would tell you to fix that first with a website agency, then talk to us about the ongoing channel once members have somewhere decent to land.
